3 horizontal door bars, minimum, with vertical interlocking supports that are gusseted to the horizontal bars are mandatory on the drivers and passenger sides of the car. All tubing that would come into contact with the driver’s body must be padded. 2 inches of clearance minimum, between the top of the driver’s head with helmet, to halo, is mandatory. This will be the only allowable basic design. 2 down bars from the back of the halo down to the rear sub frame. Each post must be connected as to create a 6 sided box. The structural integrity of a uni-bodied car is not strong enough to attach the bottoms of the posts to. The bottoms of each post must be connected to each other with 1 ‘/£ round or 2×2 box tubing by creating an “x” or a box with a cross brace. Fire suppression systems are also highly recommended.ģ. Nomex socks, underwear and hood sock is highly recommended. Helmets and Clothing: All drivers must have an ASA or Snell approved helmet and neck brace, fire suit (2ply recommended) with fire retardant shoes and gloves.
All cars must have a properly rated and charged fire extinguisher that’s securely mounted and within reach of the driver and safety crew’s reach.Ģ. 3 bars of ‘/2 inch tubing must be installed in front of the driver to protect him or her from objects coming through windshield screening. The sheeting must remain between the front and rear fenders, not exceeding more than one inch from the door line. Windshield screening is mandatory and must be of substantial material. Aluminum door panels may be used, however the original shell of the door must remain with the aluminum sheeting affixed on the outside of the shell. All glass and plastic lenses must be removed as well as any molding or chrome on the outside of the body.
Window nets are mandatory and mounting will be subject to approval. All holes in the floor and front and rear firewalls must be patched. All interior upholstery and seats must be removed as well as the dash pad foam or any thing that would create a fire hazard. It is recommended you have a foot pull back on the gas pedal. It must be in a tray and have a minimum of 2 hold down bolts. Other safety rules will be the following: batteries must remain under the hood or be properly locked down inside the roll cage. Any refusals to comply with the safety standards set forth by the officials, will result in the ineligibility of the car until it meets the related requirements. You may not have competed in any other class within the past 1 year. In the interest of safety and fair competition, rules may be changed (with sufficient notice) through out the season. This class is designed for economy racing.
